Hello my friends, I hope all is well with you, I was very busy with the wedding and everything so I haven’t had a spare time to update you with anything…sorry… The wedding ceremony is behind us now… wow, I cant believe I’m done with that…went very good actually, all the focus was on me and my girl… you can imagine… but it went ok, and I’ve dealt with it…
so I’m amazed once again… and I’m starting to forget why I’m taking the pills anyways… We’re flying to Spain next week for a quick honey moon… and maybe afterwards to Thailand… Now I have a lot of comments to read… I’m still on 10 mg… but thinking about going down to 5…

I have just spent almost all afternoon reading through your posts and the comments. What a great community you have started. And congrats on your wedding.
I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for way too long now, almost 20yrs. I have been (and still am) very hesitant on taking medications since a very bad experience with my father who suffered from dementia for years. One day a new doctor looked over his file and couldn't understand the prescriptions he was taking, switch them and within 2 weeks I had my father back, he could remember everything except for a little period when he was in the hospital.
I have also seen many "main stream" therapists and was always so amazed how even before the end of the first session they were ready to pump me up full of pills. I have also tried other types of therapy such as hypnosis, Primal Therapy (not a good experience at all) and natural antidepressants with no success.
Lately things have been very low for me, with no change in my life to blame. So I went to see my doctor today and he prescribed me cipralex, 10mg for 8 days then jump to 20mg. After sitting in my car staring at the prescription for 30 minutes I decided to bite the bullet, go against my fears and get the medication. I am still very nervous about taking cipralex with everything that I have read but I need something to change. I was going to start tomorrow morning but after reading the comments about being tired during the day I will be taking my first dose tonight before bed.
I do have a question, does being on 10mg for just over a week then to 20mg too much too fast?
I hope for no major side effects, but most of all I hope for some happYness in my life.

I was just wondering if reducing from 20 mg to 10 mg made you less zombie-ish/ fatigued. I have been on cipralex for over a year now, and on 20 mg for about 5 months now, and now that the anxiety/ depression is completely gone (I've done a lot of internal work as well), I'm starting to dislike the zombie state I'm in all the time.
So yea, just wondering the reason why you reduced your dosage and if it's helped/ worsened your well-bring.

just wanted to know why even such a small does can cause erectile dysfunction even at 5 mg. it is a better drug than most but for this side effect of dysfunction. is there something natural one can take to heal this suffering and pain rather than taking these chemicals which eventually destroy the system.

Hi I just wanted to share here I stared 10mg for the first day and I decided to not to continue. It makes me feel like I've changed to a different person. I was kind of fansinated by the fact that it had improved my concentration and made me less depressed and not as easy to cry (I used to feel sad and cry and feel guilty about things. well let's not talk about what things here but you know what i mean.. Like problems in life or relationships etc etc ..but after taking 10mg i felt like I have turned into a dull person like a robot, got less sensitive about feeling. I saw problems that I have in my life were not a big deal. But I don't like that!! I used to see problems are a big deal and I will to try and challenge!! Side effect include headache, insomnia, dry mouth, tense muscle anxiety. Pro: improve concentration. This medication claims that it takes Bout 2 weeks to feel the effect but I'm not worried about the side effects here i mean ive already felt I've changed personality. Sorry, I prefer being depresession when I'm down at least it's my real feelings rather than feeling drugged and numbing myself. I don't even want to try 2 weeks to see full effect. I want to feel depressed sometimes and stay sober:)
I have been on Cipralex for 5 years. I'm pregnant and I've been on Cipralex during the pregnancy and it's my second pregnancy while on Cipralex. For some reason I can't remember what dosage I was on during my last trimester. I'm on 40mg a day. I would like to try to drop down to 10mg because of the possible side effects on the baby. Unfortunatly my depression is a sensitive subject with my husband and when I brought up the subject of lowering my dosage he got quite excited which isn't helping me. I needed him to know that I was wanting to drop my dosage but that could effect my mood and I needed him to be aware of it. He feels that this shouldn't effect him. If I decide to decrease my dosage and I find it's effecting my mood I need to deal with it and not take it out on him. I still feel for the baby the best is to try and reduce my dosage but I guess I'll be doing it without my husband's support.
I think I'm rambling but if there is anybody that could me see this clearly I'd love to read your comments. Thanks

Congratulations on your wedding. Your journal has helped me a lot. I'm on day 5 now and I have more anxiety and palpitations although combining the med with xanax. I just wanted to ask you how many weight have you gained since on Cipralex? I suffered from panic attacks which led to agoraphobia and my doctor prescribed me 10mg. As being a woman and kind of overweight (I weigh 89kg and I'm 1.72) and on a diet I am afraid of gaining weight. After how long does weight gain start to come up? I really would like to know if you have met someone (especially woman) who managed to lose weight while on Cipralex??

Trust me we ,ladies can lose weight when we are on cipralex. I am slighly on diet and then much on walks and exercises and I have managed to keep myself at weight of my choice.We do n't get weight with cipralex if we don't want. Then Cipralex has taken away my anxiety and panic attacks now after approx 8 months use so what I can suggest you on the basis of my bitter past anxiety attacks and present life ,that Penny just bear with it for some time. I'm so glad you replied to me. Yeap,I had some severe panic attacks back in July that made me totally a different person.I am seeing a therapist as well and try to be patient until the meds kick in.Life in Athens really stresses me out,but that is my life and I must learn live with it.My doctor prescribed me xanax until Cipralex kicks in.I am very scared atm and can't barely do something on my own. I started some yoga lessons,try to walk the dog but atm I can't work.I can't seem to be able to concentrate on something.My panic attacks started back in July,and they were pretty much severe.They lasted for hours.I didn't even know what a panic attack was until I continued having them for a whole month.I quit caffeine and don't drink alcohol (I didn't drink anyway that much only on social occasions).Since then I haven't had a full blown panic attack,but haven't stayed alone as well.I really hope the meds will work for me and help me get my old life back.It would be nice if you gave me your e-mail so we can get in touch.Thanks again for your reply.Penny

I am now on cipralex for more than 8 months . I had felt that morning dose gives me a bit sluggishness so I changed my time around 6 in evening. As I do my gym or some walk in evening so actually with cipralex I can sleep well and mornings are fresh. It might work for some other friends too. Life is incredibly changed for me now. Hi I just started to take the pills 3 days ago. I didnt want too. I always felt depressed like no wanting to do anything scared of death.
